777 Partners’ proposed takeover of Everton is entering its sixth month.
The US investment firm signed a Heads of Terms on 15 September over an agreement to acquire Farhad Moshiri’s 94 per cent stake in the club.
The ratification process was set to take just 12 weeks. The season is entering its latter stages, and we have yet to find out whether the Premier League will approve the purchase of the club.

It feels as if the endpoint is now in sight, regardless of whether a positive outcome will follow.
According to The Daily Mail, the two parties have extended their original completion date. However, there is an understanding that the current scenario cannot continue beyond March.
In an added layer of detail, Everton are believed to require funding to continue operating by the end of next month. Considering the current situation, 777 Partners are believed to be reluctant to provide any further funding.
777 Partners face New York finance issue
Now, in a fresh twist, the US-based firm face a funding issue.
According to The Athletic, a significant source of 777 Partners’ funding is about to be “turned off”.
“Doubts about 777 Partners’ proposed takeover of Everton have grown after it was confirmed that a significant source of its funding is about to be turned off,” they wrote.
It’s believed A-Cap, a New York-based financial services and insurance company, has been one of 777’s main sources of funds over the last three years.
However, The Athletic reports that it’s “exiting” its relationship with 777’s reinsurance subsidiary, 777 Re.”
Yet another Everton twist
Evertonians’ feelings on 777 Partners are well known, and the latest report from The Athletic will add further fuel to the fire.
The time taken for approval and instances at other clubs have certainly raised suspicions at Goodison Park.

Football finance expert Kieran Maguire has even claimed the Premier League are right to vet Everton’s prospective owners thoroughly.
Talking on the Price is Football Podcast, he said: “We’ve seen information come out that within the 777 staple of clubs we have Standard Liege.
“For the last three months, they’ve paid their wages late. These are red flags upon red flags upon reg flags.”
On the proposed takeover of Everton, he added: “Whilst the Premier League has been given a lot of stick for not giving a definitive answer, they are right to demand from 777 information.”
