Everton are already pretty much safe from relegation.

Everton reside 15 points clear of the bottom three with just seven games remaining, so David Moyes will already have one eye on next season.

The Friedkin Group are preparing to invest heavily into Everton’s squad this summer, with PSR issues finally set to be lifted at the end of the financial year in June.

The final seven games of the campaign will give Moyes a great chance to assess his squad in more detail and decide which positions he’d like to strengthen.

It could also provide the youth with a chance to impress the Scotsman and there’s one under-21s star who’s really staking a claim to feature after yet another goal on Monday evening.

Martin Sherif scores again for under-21s

Everton have a rich history of producing talented teenagers from their academy, with the likes of Wayne Rooney, Leon Osman and Ross Barkely.

Now, it appears they have another bright talent ready to make his mark in the shape of under-21s striker Martin Sherif.

The 18-year-old was again on the score sheet for the reserve side on Monday evening, as they suffered a late 4-3 defeat to Norwich City.

Sherif has now scored 30 goals for the under-18s and 21s, so he’s surely close to making a senior debut, especially with nothing really to play for.

Everton coaches have been telling Moyes about Sherif, urging the Everton boss to keep a watchful eye on his development.

Moyes has already named Sherif on the bench seven times since rejoining the club in January.

Sherif should get minutes against Nottingham Forest

Sherif will be well rested by the time Saturday’s game against Nottingham Forest comes around, so Moyes should award him some minutes off the bench.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Armando Broja set to leave Goodison Park at the end of the season, Everton will be in the market for a centre-forward.

Sherif could be promoted to the third or perhaps even second-choice striker next season if he manages to take any forthcoming opportunities in the final few weeks.

The teenager has been capped by the Netherlands’ youth teams, evincing his pedigree in the academy space.
