Everton are believed to be admiring an exciting 18-year-old talent currently breaking through the ranks at Real Betis.

The January transfer window is open and with it, Everton is keen to strengthen. However, on the other hand, there’s the important note that caution is taken financially.

Everton have already had a few names circulated in connection with joining Sean Dyche and his battle against relegation.

One is the potential free-agent arrival of Jesse Lingard who’s a potential arrival for the Toffees on a short-term deal.

However, that move is one few are excited about – with reports now suggesting Everton admires a far more ambitious player in 18-year-old Assane Diao.

Everton admire Assane Diao

It’s seen as an unlikely prospect that Everton will part with a significant fee this window, even for a player as exciting as Diao.

However, that seemingly hasn’t deterred their interest as the Toffees are said to ‘admire’ the dynamic Real Betis winger.

This comes according to Sky Sports who mention the teenager is a target to strengthen what is seen as a priority position on the wing.

If signed – Diao would face stiff competition from Dwight McNeil and Jack Harrison however he has the potential to compete and possibly better both.

Diao is the latest winger to be linked with a move to Goodison Park, following Leicester City’s Kasey McAteer who was linked yesterday.

Who is Assane Diao?

With Everton admiring him, it’s only right to shed more light on the player who could soon be a Toffee.

Full name: Assane Diao Diaoune
Age: 18
Height: 1.85 m (6 ft 0 in)
Nationality: Spain
Date of birth: 7th September 2005
Place of birth: Ndongane, Senegal
Contract length: Expires June 30th 2027
Position: Left-winger
Club: Real Betis Balompie

At just 18, and with so long remaining on his contract, Everton would likely have a tough job of getting him cheap.

This is made even more difficult by the fact Brentford are believed to have already bid for the youngster, according to reports.

So if that’s the case, Everton will need to step up their game quickly with a structured deal or a loan with future buy options all potential options.
