Everton are about to sign a Championship teenager whom David Moyes and his chiefs have been tracking for a while.
The Friedkin Group’s new recruitment policy is geared towards signing young talent, and that’s already been evinced by the additions of Thierno Barry and Adam Aznou.
Everton had the third-oldest squad in the Premier League last season, so the American investors are keen to drive down that figure.
The Toffees’ academy is also getting major investment and now, according to Fabrizio Romano, a highly-rated youngster is on the verge of joining.

Everton ‘agree deal’ to sign Charlton’s Reuben Gokah
Everton have been tracking Charlton teenager Reuben Gokah for most of the summer transfer window.
There is a belief that the 2009-born will go right to the top, so the Toffees have landed quite the coup at youth level.
Gokah, who plies his trade as a central defender, has represented England youth teams but is yet to make a senior appearance for the newly-promoted Championship outfit.
Rueben Gokah expected to join the under-18s initially
Gokah isn’t expected to be part of Moyes’ squad this season as he’ll be playing with the under-18s to start with.
If he develops and progresses there, then there will likely be opportunities to feature for the under-21s in the Premier League 2.
Everton’s academy was labelled a ‘disgrace’ by a source close to the club earlier this year, but it’s been all change since then, and Gokah’s arrival marks the investment being pumped in.
Nick Cox has been brought in from Manchester United to lead the academy, and he’s widely regarded as one of the best in the business.
So, Everton should reap the rewards over the next five or so years.
