Everton and Leeds United have been in a number of transfer battles this summer transfer window.

Everton and Leeds both wanted Habib Diarra from RC Strasbourg, however, the Senegal international ultimately ended up joining newly-promoted Sunderland.

Then, the Toffees were looking at Leeds target Gabriel Gudmunsson, but the Lille left-back made the switch to Elland Road.

Callum Wilson has also been of interest to David Moyes and Daniel Farke, although, there has been no further movement on that deal.

Now, there could be another battle between the two clubs as the race heats up for a Championship playmaker.

Leeds join Everton in race to sign Leicester City star Bilal El Khannouss

Everton are keen on signing a creative midfielder this summer and Moyes has looked at signing James McAtee from Manchester City.

Leicester City playmaker Bilal El Khannouss is also on Everton’s radar and they have been made aware of his £22.5m release clause.

There has been conflicting information that suggests there isn’t a release clause, with the Foxes wanting offers in excess of £25m.

Either way, El Khannouss is a serious option for Moyes but now there is fresh competition from Leeds United for his signature.

According to The Athletic, Leeds have discussed a move for the 21-year-old, so Everton will certainly be wary.

Gustavo Hamer remains an option for Everton

Gustavo Hamer is another name on Everton’s shortlist after his sensational season for Sheffield United, winning the Championship’s Player of the Season award.

Remarkably, it’s understood the Blades have slashed his asking price to around £10m, which seems like an absolute bargain.

It wouldn’t at all be surprising to see Everton make a late move for the 28-year-old, with his price tag likely to reduce even further towards the end of the window.

A telling month lies ahead on Merseyside.
