Everton have now seen another twist in their pursuit of Manchester City midfielder James McAtee.

The summer transfer window is now really ticking along, with Everton on board their flight to the United States.

David Moyes has been handed two new faces for the trip to the States, but one of them is backup goalkeeper Mark Travers.

It has recently been claimed that Everton are behind in the race to sign McAtee with Nottingham Forest pushing to sign the 22-year-old.

However, there is interest coming from across Europe in McAtee.

Eintracht Frankfurt held a meeting with McAtee in Germany, but no deal came from the talks with the Bundesliga outfit.

With August now creeping up on clubs, McAtee has just made a major decision on where his future could lie.

James McAtee makes decision on his next move amid Everton interest

Everton left a positive impression on McAtee’s camp following opening talks earlier this month.

There are a lot of positives surrounding the Toffees this summer, but competition is strong for the 22-year-old.

According to Sky Sports, McAtee has now come to the conclusion that he does not want to make a move abroad.

The 22-year-old midfielder is now keen to remain in the Premier League with strong interest coming from a number of clubs.

Clubs in Italy and Germany have been informed of McAtee’s decision.

Forest could view McAtee as a replacement for Morgan Gibbs-White, who looks set to potentially join Tottenham Hotspur.

If this is the case, the Reds are going to have some money to spend, and Everton will have to be on the ball if they are to land McAtee.

Everton must decide between McAtee and Takefusa Kubo

Everton are looking to strengthen their attacking options by providing Thierno Barry with some creative players.

McAtee is not the only option on Angus Kinnear’s radar, though.

It is believed Everton hold a strong interest in Takefusa Kubo from Real Sociedad, who would mark a real statement signing from the Friedkins.

Considering the market has got off to a fairly steady start on Merseyside, adding Kubo or McAtee could really excite the fans.

But Everton need to make their mind up on which player they are truly going to pursue.
