David Moyes has already found success at West Ham against Liverpool which he could use to exploit for Everton.

Despite Moyes not being as tactically advanced as Arne Slot, the Everton manager will have a few tricks up his sleeve.

Vitaliy Mykolenko will return to Everton for Liverpool which has handed the Toffees boss a boost in his defensive department.

This may be where Everton will have to come out on top as Slot’s side are unbeaten in 19 Premier League games so it will have to be a defensive masterclass.

However, this might not be Everton’s only strength, as Moyes could use a reliable gameplan in the Merseyside Derby.

Everton boss David Moyes spotted a weakness with Liverpool at West Ham

Slot might have the tactical advantage but Abdoulaye Doucoure said Moyes is tactically strong at Everton.

It seems as though after just four games Moyes has convinced the Toffees squad about his system and how he wants to play, which is a stark contrast compared to his predecessor, as Everton players ‘sneered’ at Sean Dyche’s ways.

Being as though they already have faith in their manager, Moyes might bring up a plan that worked to a tee against Liverpool in 2021.

Michail Antonio spoke after West Ham’s 3-2 victory against Liverpool in the 2021/22 season, suggesting in the post-match interview how Moyes planned to expose the Reds.

“The whole plan was to stick it in straight on the keeper and we’ve just challenged,” Antonio said.

“We saw that they struggle with the ball coming in on them and all we had to do was keep the ball away from Virgil. It’s worked out for us today.

“We have to give credit to the coaching staff. They have a look at the weaknesses and the strengths of each team we come up against and in different games, we come up with different strategies.

“Today the plan was to push straight on the keeper (Allison) and today no one marked me on the keeper so I’m there to block him and make sure he can’t come out and catch it.

“You then saw what happened today: goals.”

Everton’s Beto can flourish in the Antonio role that exposed Liverpool

Antonio is known for his strength, so it would be useful if Everton had a burly striker who could succeed in this role, well, they already do.

Moyes told Beto to be aggressive at Everton and the striker showed exactly that in the Toffees’ 4-0 win against Leicester City.

After grabbing a brace, Beto will be full of confidence, and if Moyes pins the role on the 26-year-old, Allison might struggle to deal with the striker.

Everton aren’t going to beat Liverpool by playing pretty, but they can use Moyes’ plan to succeed on Wednesday night.
