Kevin Thelwell has been under increased pressure from the Friedkin Group and his job status looks to be surplus to requirements at Everton.
All may not be as it seems though, as despite the Friedkins potentially replacing Thelwell at Everton, he still remains the Director of Football.
Following the years of misery under Farhad Moshiri, positives can be taken from Thelwell’s reign so far, but it might not be enough to keep him in the job.
David Moyes was happy with one January addition and Thelwell seemed in agreement which gives a strong perspective into the pair’s working relationship.
Thelwell might thank Moyes for his work so far, but one Everton player has potentially saved his job.

Iliman Ndiaye has saved Kevin Thelwell’s job at Everton
Thelwell will be involved at Everton this summer, as the Toffees director of football might be given a last-chance scenario.
However, Iliman Ndiaye’s arrival this summer is a key reason as to why he’s still in his post.
Speaking to the Everton media (4:00), Thelwell described how Ndiaye’s signing has been so crucial to his future.
“I’ve had a very difficult period in my three years here,” Thelwell said.
“It’s not been what any of us would’ve wanted.
“To be able to bring in someone of the quality of Illiman Ndiaye is something we’re really proud of.”
Iliman Ndiaye has been a superb piece of business at Everton
Everton rarely get transfers right, but they’ve smashed it out of the park with Ndiaye.
Ndiaye signed at Everton for £15m, yes you read that right, £15m, hats off to Thelwell.
He has been far and away Everton’s best player this season, and his contribution at Goodison Park speaks volumes about how good he actually is.
| Iliman Ndiaye’s statistics in the Premier League for Everton | |
| Appearances | 23 |
| Goals | 6 |
| Successful dribbles | 58 |
| Fouls won | 39 |
| Long ball accuracy % | 77.8% |
| Duels won | 144 |
Ndiaye joins a very rare club of Everton signings that have panned out in the last ten years, but what a steal he’s been.
With Thelwell on thin ice at Everton, he’ll be hoping he can scope out a few more Ndiaye’s in the summer.
