Rafa Benitez made many mistakes during his Everton tenure, but this one was quite bad; however, David Moyes can correct it now.
Everton have been very unfortunate with their managers in recent seasons, until Moyes was the obvious solution to fix things.
Sean Dyche and Frank Lampard did their bit where they could, but Benitez joining the club was a complete failure.
Duncan Ferguson was frustrated Benitez sold Lucas Digne as Aston Villa were a relegation rival at the time.
But this is just one example of what was a disaster from start to finish, as a big error could finally be rectified.

Former Everton target Denzel Dumfries wants Premier League move
Back in 2021, the Toffees had the chance to sign Dutch right back Denzel Dumfries.
As it’s known, the defender has gone on to be a major success at Inter Milan, but it was Benitez’s fault for not signing the 29-year-old.
Marcel Brands wanted the Dutch star, but Benitez refused to sign Dumfries from PSV, in what has turned out to be a calamitous decision.
However, Moyes has the chance to right the Spaniard’s wrongs after Dumfries made his feelings clear in a recent press conference for the national team.
“I’m happy at Inter, but I’d like to play in the Premier League,” Dumfries said.
“I could see myself in England. The Premier League is a fantastic league, and I think I could perform at my best there too. If a professional opportunity arose, I’d be interested.”
Everton wanted Dumfries again in 2023, and now the perfect opportunity is there for a third pursuit.

‘Dangerous’ Denzel Dumfries could be convinced by exciting Everton project
It will be quite obvious that if the defender wants Premier League football, European football will be his destination.
The likelihood is that it could be next season when the possibility of him leaving comes to the surface, and by then, the Toffees could have landed themselves a shock place in Europe, judging by their start.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 4 | 3 | 2 | 0 | 1 | 5 | 1 | 4 | 6 | |
| 5 | 3 | 2 | 0 | 1 | 5 | 3 | 2 | 6 | |
| 6 | 3 | 2 | 0 | 1 | 5 | 3 | 2 | 6 |
The project at the club, along with the Hill Dickinson Stadium, could intrigue Dumfries, who is clearly looking for this new challenge.
Rio Ferdinand praised the Inter Milan star at the 2022 World Cup, calling his cutbacks ‘dangerous’, and it’s obvious he would be an attacking threat from defence, as Moyes will be eagerly wanting a right-back still.
By this time next year, the Toffees could find themselves with fortunes in Europe to look forward to, and who knows, maybe Dumfries will finally give in to the Everton interest.
