Tottenham Hotspur could not have made it more clear to Everton that they should avoid signing Yves Bissouma.

On Wednesday, it was revealed that Tottenham were opting against keeping Bissouma at the end of his current deal.

The Mali midfielder is someone who Everton have had earmarked for a while now ahead of his release from north London.

What kind of effect do you think signing Yves Bissouma would have at Everton? 😳

David Moyes simply CANNOT bring in a character like this!

Despite holding plenty of Premier League experience, and now being a free signing, David Moyes should be listening to the warnings sent out.

Everton must listen to Tottenham’s Yves Bissouma warning

Ahead of the transfer window opening, Everton are working on adding a midfielder to their squad to kick off their summer business.

Bissouma has been eyed by Everton over recent months as a possible cheap option given his vast Premier League experience.

However, journalist Tom Allnutt has highlighted the extent to which Spurs have avoided handing Bissouma new terms in north London.

If you were Angus Kinnear who would you be going all out for this summer? 💰

“Spurs had an option to extend Bissouma’s contract for another year which could have got them a fee, either this summer or in January,” he said.

“That they decided to cut their losses instead says a lot about what De Zerbi and club think needs doing now with this squad.”

Bissouma is a player who has endured his fair share of controversy during his time at Spurs following his £25m move from Brighton.

The midfielder has been internally suspended by the respective Spurs managers on a number of occasions for a number of offences.

Ange Postecoglou was left furious with Bissouma’s poor punctuality for Spurs’ training sessions, with some off-field issues considerably more serious also being an issue.

“I said [to Bissouma] ‘you can be a leader in this group’. I already knew of his ability, and the way he was training, I could see he got a lift with that,” said Postecoglou.

“He was late the next morning.”

Everton may not be operating on a huge budget this summer, which means any free signings they can pick up could be a big boost.

However, they have to fit the demands of the club as well as being able to provide improvements on the pitch.

Hackney is keen to join Everton this summer and that is the exact mentality Moyes will be hoping for from his players.

Bringing in a player with Bissouma’s past would certainly prove a risk.
