Everton could land themselves the perfect right-back this summer through Tottenham Hotspur’s Djed Spence

Right-back is the priority position for Everton to address in this summer’s transfer market following another season of Jake O’Brien playing out of position.

David Moyes has been keen to sign a new right-back ever since he landed on Merseyside, but has failed to approve any of the options provided to him.

After watching him for England vs Croatia, I’m convinced he’d be the perfect right-back signing this summer! 🔥

It is now being reported by The Times that Spence is a player on Everton’s radar and he showed exactly what he could provide the Toffees through his display in England’s World Cup opener.

Djed Spence passed Everton audition in England’s World Cup win

Everton have a number of right-backs on their radar and it has now been suggested that Spence has emerged on the list.

The 25-year-old played 44 times for Spurs last season, but will have to compete with Pedro Porro who has just inked a new deal in north London.

Although Spence did not start on Wednesday evening against Croatia, his cameo appearance from the bench provided Thomas Tuchel with a lot to consider ahead of Tuesday’s second game.

He may only have been on the pitch for 10 minutes, but Spence showed just how much of an attacking threat he can be from the right-back spot.

There was one moment where the Spurs defender dropped a gear and burst into the Croatia box and almost got his name on the scoresheet.

In the build-up to the game, Spence admitted he’s the quickest player in the current England set up.

This is a trait that Everton are certainly lacking both in the full-back spots and across the pitch, on the whole.

Something else that will impress Moyes about Spence is his ability to play on both sides of the defence.

Last season, Spence was deployed predominantly at left-back despite being a natural right-footed defender.

Versatility is something Moyes appreciates and Spence could, therefore, be viewed as a player that could provide competition for Vitalii Mykolenko.

Everton are also interested in Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who may well prove an easier target to attract to Merseyside than Spence.

Tottenham have already made a strong start to this summer’s market and the ambition being shown is certainly outweighing that on display at Everton.
