A lot of change is needed at Everton football club.

Not just on the pitch but off the pitch, there needs to be serious improvement if Everton are to return to their past glories.

Sean Dyche’s men look set to be involved in another relegation battle this season as they reside in 16th place.

There have been calls to sack Dyche but unless things get even worse, he appears set to remain until the end of the season.

The Friedkin Group will only sack Dyche in a dire emergency and as it stands, things haven’t reached that point.

It’s not just Dyche who should be under pressure, though, as the recruitment over the last few years has been really hit-and-miss.

So an upgrade is needed in that department, too, and with that said, what Brighton have just done could help them in achieving that.

Brighton axe highly-rated recruitment scouts

According to The Telegraph, high-flying Brighton have made the surprising decision to axe the majority of their recruitment scouts.

The Seagulls have been one of the best clubs in Europe at recruiting young talent over the last few years, with Moises Caicedo and Julio Ensico as notable examples.

But, owner Tony Bloom has decided to let go of most of the club’s full-time scouts as he gears towards a data-led model.

And, this is where Everton should pounce as they must try to poach the now unemployed staff to overhaul the current team, which has misfired on a number of signings.

They likely won’t be alone in their pursuit, though, so the Friedkin Group must act quickly to sound out the top-rated talented spotters before bigger clubs circle.

Everton should adopt Brighton’s recruitment strategy

The Toffees haven’t really had a clear recruitment strategy since the Farhad Moshiri reign began.

It’s all been somewhat of a scattergun approach and quite clearly, it’s not working as they’re in another fight to survive this term.

According to Transfermarkt, Everton have the second oldest average age in the Premier League, so the need for younger recruits is apparent.

Brighton’s scouts excel in that department so it seems like a natural fit if the club are to progress to the next step.
