Abdoulaye Doucoure is out of contract in the summer.
After almost five years at Everton, Abdoulaye Doucoure could leave Goodison Park at the end of the season.
There has been a suggestion that the Toffees could offer Doucoure a new deal, but he won’t accept a pay cut.
Speaking on Ben Foster’s podcast last week, the Frenchman said he deserves a pay rise, if anything.
“I see Everton fans saying to lower my wages. I’m amazed, I deserve to have my salary right now,” Doucoure explained.
“To be honest, I won’t readjust my salary to stay at the club. I’ve seen Mo Salah get a pay rise.
“I’m playing every season, I’m important for the club, no, I should have an increase!”
It’s now been reported that Saudi Pro League side Al-Shabab are in talks with Doucoure, and Everton fans have been reacting to that rumour on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Everton fans hope Abdoulaye Doucoure leaves for Saudi Arabia
Everton supporters all agreed that Doucoure should leave Goodison Park and accept the move to Saudi Arabia.
@stetansley said: “Makes sense for him to go there tbh if true. If it’s money he’s after he isn’t going to get it with us. His input hasn’t.”
@ITalkEverton added: “Good luck to him scored so many key goals and probably the most important in our recent history Will be forever grateful, but it doesn’t make sense to keep him plus watching him try to pass a football has almost certainly shaved a few years off my life been anywhere near good enough.”
“Thanks for the memories fella but it’s time to go,” @Tommyk62 commented.
“Let him fly out now, don’t need him, Alcaraz in the 10 last 2 games, see ye later Doucs,” @B_BMDFooty said.
@ChristoSikorski explained: “Probably best move for him if he’s after what his current wages are.”
@Rydymymaohyd posted: “I like Doucoure, but in all honesty, the club were never going to offer him a new contract on the same terms as he is currently on… he is 33 next birthday and would have little sell on value they were never going to offer him 120/130k a week again.”
Carlos Alcaraz could replace Doucoure
It appears Moyes is open to signing Carlos Alcaraz on a permanent deal this summer transfer window, with a £15m option to buy available on the loan deal.
Alcaraz would be the perfect replacement for Doucoure, who is of a similar profile to the former Juventus and Southampton midfielder.
The 22-year-old hasn’t had a run of starts since arriving in January but he has impressed in cameo appearances lately.
The Argentinian would provide more quality on the ball than Doucoure, too, with his passing ability of a much higher standard.
