Everton fans already rule out one Friedkin Group hire, claim he’s more boring than Sean Dyche

Everton suffered a damaging 1-0 defeat to Southampton at St Mary’s on the weekend.

Everton put in a disjointed display on the South Coast and remain in the relegation picture leading up to the November international break.

After the game, fans called for Sean Dyche to be sacked as they fumed at his pragmatic style of play, which his side have just 35 per cent possession.

It’s understood that Dan Friedkin’s number-one target to replace Dyche is Maurcio Sarri, though, he’s now being linked with the Roma job.

Another manager who’s been linked to Goodison Park is Graham Potter and now fans have voiced their concern about that potential appointment.

Everton fans don’t want Graham Potter

Everton held talks about appointing Potter earlier this season and now his name has cropped up again with Dyche under pressure.

Though, some Everton fans aren’t convinced he’s the right man, as they took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to voice their concern.

@NCarter90 said: “Would need a preseason with Potter I think as it would take at least 5-10 games for the players to get used to a completely different style.”

@PoutiainenMarko added: “Has Potter actually started from scratch? How does his tactics work when he has a dysfunctional squad?”

@WattyWattDogg explained: “It took him 2 years to get it right at Brighton and there was a spell when the fans were on his back there because they couldn’t buy a win. Does the Everton fanbase give him the time to get it right? I’m sceptical.”

“We’re not the easiest team to manage and irrespective of footballing credentials you need a strong personality and a backbone. Potter wobbled when the Brighton fans got on his back, he’d probably be a quivering wreck after 6 games with us,” @DavidArrow04 believes.

@deebrassmonkey added: “Potter got found out as soon as he didn’t have the super support system that is in place at Brighton. Brighton are so organised and are higher in the Deloitte than Everton. He can’t handle steering Everton he will crumble.”

“If Dyche ball bores you then you’ll hate potter ball with the players we have. Possession-based football is dire to watch,” @JamesBrownEFC said.

Dyche should be given West Ham ultimatum

Dyche has won just seven games over the last 11 months, which is certainly worthy of the sack.

But, he still does have some credit in the bank, so he should be given this weekend’s clash against West Ham United, who are also really struggling this season.

If his side suffers defeat, perhaps it’s time to call an end to his Everton reign and look towards David Moyes until the end of the season.
