Everton have a number of players out of contract at the end of the season.

Idrissa Gana Gueye is one of the most notable Everton first-teamers whose future remains up in the air.

As it stands, Gueye is due to walk out the doors of Finch Farm on a free transfer on June 30th, so the club have a big decision to make.

Do they offer him a new one-year deal or allow him to depart and promote a younger option in the middle of the park?

With that said, we decided to ask Toffees fans on TalkingPoints what should happen with Gueye.

Everton fans divided on whether Idrissa Gana Gueye should stay

Replying to the TalkingPoint above, it seems Everton supporters are pretty split on whether Gueye should stay for another year.

Many make the point that the 36-year-old is showing clear signs of decline, whilst others feel his experience is too valuable to lose.

It has been reported that Everton are open to keeping Gueye but the veteran midfielder’s agents are in no rush to decide his future.

Other reports have suggested that the Toffees are concerned about Gueye’s substantial wages, as Capology understand he takes home around £120,000-a-week.

Surely any forthcoming contract extension would have to reduce those wages considerably, as he’s not the midfielder he once was.

The Senegal international turns 37 in September, so there could be a bigger drop off next term.
