Beto’s future at Everton has been uncertain for a while now.
Everton were open to selling Beto in January, but they didn’t manage to find a suitor willing to meet their £17m asking price.
It looked as though a summer departure was likely, but Beto’s brace against Chelsea has led to many questioning whether he should stay.
The 28-year-old is out of contract next summer, so David Moyes and his Everton chiefs have a decision to make.
Do they offer Beto a new deal or sell him? Toffees fans have answered that question on TalkingPoints and on our Facebook page.

Should Everton actually be getting Beto tied down to a new contract? 🤔
He'll only have a year left this summer…
Most Everton fans don’t think Beto should get a new deal
Perhaps quite surprisingly, especially after Beto’s two goals against Chelsea, most supporters don’t think the club should offer him a new deal.
- “Let’s not jump the gun, he’s still incredibly inconsistent, he was one amazing game – what about the other 20 this season?”
- “Personally from a business point of view it’ll be good for us if he finishes the season strongly. It’ll keep his stock high & I would cash in. I like his attitude & workrate but how many times have we said this season Beto & Barry aren’t good enough?”
- “IMO jury still out on Beto. He can be lazy on the field, not running or challenging defenders bringing the ball out. He can be knocked off the ball easily. Yet when he really steps up he is a handful.”
- “No wait and see next season, don’t give him a new contract yet!!”
- “I’d keep him but still try get in an elite striker. Don’t see the point in selling Beto for £15-20m and getting like for like. We did that with Barry. I’d send Barry out on loan abroad.”
- “If he can reproduce that form on a regular basis he’ll be a big asset.”
- “I worked out his goals-per-minutes ratio yesterday since he joined and it’s 1 goal in just over every 2 full games. If we had a striker who played, say, 45 full games a season and scored 22 goals we’d be saying he was a legend. Beto isn’t the most graceful player to watch but his finishing is solid, and his stats back that up.”
Beto hinted that he wants to stay at Everton after the Chelsea game, as he said he feels at home on Merseyside.
“I don’t think I’m a hero,” the towering centre-forward said.
“I feel like I’m home. Playing for Everton is something unbelievable. You just want to give your all and help the team with goals, assists, good performances, anything. I’m really happy.”
If Everton qualify for Europe, they’ll probably be keen to retain his signature, as they’ll need a much bulkier squad to deal with the congested fixture list.
