Everton are up and running in the summer transfer market following the signing of Hayden Hackney.

After weeks of talks with Middlesbrough, Everton finally confirmed Hackney’s arrival on Merseyside in a deal believed to be worth in the region of £16.5m.

The deal marks a real coup for Everton after fighting off interest from Crystal Palace for the England U21 midfielder.

What is your message to Hayden Hackney after he inks his contract with Everton? 👋

Welcome to Merseyside, Hayden! 🤩

Angus Kinnear and Nick Hammond have no time to sit back and admire their fine work in negotiating the deal for Hackney, with Everton in need of more signings to upgrade David Moyes’ squad.

Everton’s pre-season programme is set to get underway in just over a week and the 63-year-old manager will be hoping for more new faces.

Who Everton fans want to see signed after Hayden Hackney

Heading into this summer’s market, Everton were looking to make five key additions to their squad for the 2026/27 campaign.

With one new midfielder now crossed off that list, Everton supporters have taken to TalkingPoints to share their hopes for the next arrival at Finch Farm.

“If [Aaron] Wan-Bisakka plays every week like he did against England, I’d get him in ASAP. Terrific defending and got forward too. Could be the answer to getting the best out of Dibling,” said one user.

Now Hackney is confirmed, who should Everton be bringing in next? 💰

“It’s got to be a proven striker plus 2 attacking full-backs, and please get rid of some of Dad’s army,” added another.

It is apparent that new full-backs are high up on the agenda for Evertonians, with another fan saying: “Just please some full backs PLEASE.”

“Brooke Norton-Cuffy, the ex-Arsenal kid at Genoa, is who I would want,” said another user on TalkingPoints.

Everton have a long-standing interest in Brooke Norton-Cuffy having previously sounded out a move in the winter.

One other user had a two-prong idea for Kinnear and the Everton recruitment team: “HARRY WILSON from Fulham!!…A pacey gifted player who assists and regularly scores goals. And a proven striker who can keep and control the ball.”

“Brilliant bit of business but don’t stop there whoever the targets are get it done ASAP,” another user added after hearing of Hackney’s signing.

The player Everton are closing in on as their next summer signing

Although it is clear that the supporters are desperate to see a new full-back land on Merseyside, it looks unlikely to be the next piece of business at Finch Farm.

The Bobble has claimed Everton have struck an agreement with Chelsea to sign Tyrique George on a permanent deal.

It is believed George is open to returning to Everton, but personal terms need to be discussed with the player and his agents.

Adding attacking options is something that is rightfully high-up on the agenda at Everton, but a new right-back is desperately needed.

Jake O’Brien is keen to return to centre-back this season and having a right-back join late on in the summer could see that specific player’s inclusion into Moyes’ starting XI put on hold.

Bringing in a right-back with plenty of time to impress Moyes during pre-season has to be viewed as essential on Merseyside.

However, it does look as if George is going to become the next signing to hold the scarf.
