Everton are closing in on another summer signing as Tyrique George talks have progressed.

It has already been revealed that Everton have agreed a deal to sign Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough over recent hours.

However, Angus Kinnear is clearly hard at work, as an agreement with George is also believed to have been secured.

How do you feel about Moyes’ treatment of Tyrique George? 🫣

Everton's Tyrique George.

The Chelsea youngster did not enjoy his loan stint at Everton under David Moyes earlier this year, which does beg the question of what has convinced him to make the permanent move to Merseyside.

Everton near deal for Tyrique George to return permanently

It has been suggested by The Bobble that Everton are advancing in talks to sign George, with the player giving the move the green light.

In recent days, it was claimed that George was concerned about playing under Moyes again following his lack of opportunities at Everton.

After landing at the Hill Dickinson Stadium in the winter market, George made just 11 appearances (one start) and played only 240 minutes of football.

To convince the youngster to return may well suggest that some promise has been made behind the scenes.

Some may well feel that it could say something about Moyes’ future at the club.

What Tyrique George to Everton could say about David Moyes’ future

There is no denying the frustration on Merseyside following the final seven games of the 2025/26 campaign.

Venting their anger on TalkingPoints, there were a lot of Everton fans wanting Moyes to be replaced by the Friedkins.

Heading into this summer’s pre-season, Moyes only has 12 months remaining on his current deal.

A dismal end to the campaign has certainly put the Scot’s long-term future in doubt, with Everton fans sharing their views on finding a replacement.

George admitted he wanted to play more for Everton during his loan stint from Chelsea.

For the winger to suddenly agree to a return does raise some eyebrows given the severe lack of opportunities he was handed by the Everton manager.

It has been recently suggested that Moyes could become Scotland’s next manager following Steve Clarke’s shock resignation after their World Cup exit.

If George has not been given the impression that Moyes may not be around for long, then perhaps he has been given some guarantees over game time.

One thing that will give George a big advantage this time around is the fact he will have a full pre-season to work with Moyes.

Tyler Dibling and George will both be hoping to impress this summer and earn themselves some regular minutes in the Premier League.

Moyes simply must show faith in Everton’s young talents

Everton’s capitulation in the final months of the Premier League season largely came as a result of the lack of rotation from Moyes.

Players like Iliman Ndiaye and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall had been too heavily relied on and the build-up of minutes was clear to see.

Dibling and George were two players who were barely used in those final games and they could have provided Everton with something from the bench.

George impressed against Tottenham Hotspur in limited minutes he was provided in north London.

It was just another example of how the 20-year-old’s opportunities were hamstrung by the lack of trust from his 63-year-old manager.

As George looks set to make a return to Merseyside this summer, a repeat of his treatment from Moyes is unlikely to go down well among the supporters.
