The PGMOL haven’t exactly covered themselves in a good light when it comes to officiating Everton this season.
The Toffees have had many decisions not go their way, which is no surprise to Everton fans.
Everton were denied a stonewall penalty vs Man United, which seems to be the worst of the lot, denying David Moyes’ side the chance for a big three points.
Another incident came in the Merseyside Derby as Paul Tierney on VAR got Luis Diaz’s offside goal wrong, which decided the points, as Tierney was rewarded rather than punished.
The trend has seemingly continued for Everton as now another error from the PGMOL has been spotted.

‘Clear and obvious’ error spotted by Everton fans vs Nottingham Forest
The controversy didn’t stop as despite Everton and Moyes gaining an unexpected three points vs Nottingham Forest, once again the Toffees had a decision go against them.
Abdoulaye Doucoure’s late winner made sure to even out the error, but it was still a shocker from referee Craig Pawson.
During the game, Ryan Yates and Carlos Alcaraz collided in the penalty area, but Yates appeared to stick his elbow out whilst not looking at the ball.
The PGMOL have already been told this was wrong, as Mark Clattenburg said it was a penalty missed for Everton.
This has brought Everton fans to swarm over to X days after, still outraged by the penalty verdict.
@Vaughanie10 said: “@FA_PGMOL will Yates be being sanctioned for this?.. clearly beaten to the ball by Alcaraz, so he blatantly slams his elbow into Alacaraz ‘s throat & body checks him..”
@MattJFootball was left in bafflement, saying: “Found this so perplexing at the time – Yates just comes across, has a look and throws an arm into his throat!”
@mycatsnamedKeef summed it up with: “Blue shirt. Clear and obvious!”
A good point was made by @AdamHickin, who said: “This is given as a foul outside the box 100 times out of 100.”
@xJx4xYx disagreed with Forest fans: “Don’t understand why so many comments saying this isn’t a penalty. He makes no attempt to play the ball, turns around, blocks his man who is in control of the ball, on top of that looks like a cheeky elbow too.”
@DEmbo1878 claimed: “Apparently pawson said coming together but branthwaite did the same thing and got penalised for it! Both fouls but it’s obvious in the area it’s different??”
Moyes won’t keep quiet on Everton calls next season
It seems as though Moyes hasn’t made too much of a fuss with the call going against Everton.
Although frustrating, the Toffees manager didn’t seem to mention the penalty claim.
This could be down to Everton’s status in the Premier League, but had they not secured their future in the top flight earlier, Moyes would be having words and will no doubt be doing so next year.
He has given a glimpse into how he can call out refereeing errors, as Moyes was disappointed with referee Sam Barrott, but more needs to be done for these shockers to be avoided, and the Scotsman won’t shy away from speaking his honest thoughts.
