Everton were embarrassed against Manchester United, and to make matters worse, some fans spotted one player laughing and smiling at 4-0 down.
Sean Dyche needs to take most of the blame for the current situation at Everton, but it’s also down to the players to put his plans into action on the field.
Vitalii Mykolenko is one player who was slammed by Everton fans for his display against Manchester United, and there were many others who disappointed.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s effort was questioned against Brentford, which led to Dyche gifting a rare start to Beto at Old Trafford this afternoon.
However, there’s another player who’s getting some flack from Everton fans after the Manchester United loss, as they spotted him laughing and smiling at 4-0 down.

Everton fans spot Dwight McNeil laughing and smiling at 4-0 down against Manchester United
Many Everton fans, when speaking on X, couldn’t believe what they were seeing from Dwight McNeil, as he appeared to be laughing and smiling with Marcus Rashford.
@dan_watkinson82 wasn’t happy: “Saw that, disgusting. Drop him.”
@Yerreeee mentioned: “Why is Dwight McNeil smiling and laughing with Marcus Rashford when we’re 4-0 down. Standards are in the mud. Needs an extended stay on the bench.”
@RichBoyle66 commented: “McNeil laughing and joking with United players when we are 4-0 down. There is the attitude of the players right there. Appalling. Couldn’t care less if they all left at the end of the season. Manager and players are not good enough for this club and its fans.”
Dwight McNeil’s performance in numbers against Manchester United
To be fair to McNeil, he was one of the better players at times, despite being wasteful in the final third.
Dwight McNeil had 61 touches, a passing accuracy percentage of 95, made one key pass, failed to complete any of his crosses, won seven out of ten duels, lost possession 11 times, was fouled three times, made two tackles, was dribbled past once and one error led to a shot (SofaScore).
Using him centrally is still baffling, as he’s made a career for himself playing on the left-hand side.
Iliman Ndiaye was taken completely out of the game at times on the left, struggling to get involved, which even caused him to come deep and pick up the ball.
