Everton fans in disbelief as they learn potential new signing could be loaned to Roma

Everton are ramping up their transfer business now that the new financial year has started.

Thierno Barry is set to join Everton after a stellar season with Villarreal and Basel, netting 19 goals in all competitions.

Barry is expected to lead the line for the Toffees next term, with Beto dropping to the bench despite showing clear signs of improvement.

Now, David Moyes has turned his attention to other areas of the pitch, with strengthening wide areas thought to be a priority.

With that said, Everton are now showing an interest in a right full-back, but supporters are baffled by what’s being planned.

Everton fans baffled by potential Wesley Franca decision

Everton were in for Kenny Tete and it looked as though a free transfer was close, but he decided to reject the Toffees to sign a new deal at Fulham.

Now, Moyes is working on a deal to sign Wesley Franca, who could join in a £26m switch from Brazilian outfit Flamengo.

However, there is a suggestion that Franca could then be loaned to the Friedkins’ other owned club Roma, which fans are totally baffled by.

“Why on earth would this happen unless Roma have a player Everton need to in return. Everton don’t have enough of a squad to buy players to loan them out,” @Bluestar70GP explained.

@mhart89efc added: “Other way round please we actually need a right back, why would we buy one and loan him to Roma?”

“So we waste £30m of our money for another club to pay £2.5m for a loan, sounds great, why not waste the rest, not like we have 14 first team players,” @5ym8sbcjxv said sarcastically.

@kr12t1an_R0j commented: “But we’re the ones who need a right back?”

“It should be the other way round,” @yoedzerr noted.

Everton can’t afford to be a feeder club at this stage

In the multi-club ownership model, usually the biggest club is a feeder and based on this report, it seems Everton are viewed as that.

However, given the number of departures at Finch Farm, the Toffees aren’t at a stage where they can afford to offload any talent on loan, except from the academy.

If anything, the Italian giants should be playing that role after a fifth-placed finish in Serie A, only just missing out on Champions League football.

It would be surprising to see Moyes sanction Wesley’s loan, anyhow, so it may just be a rumour with not much truth in it.
