David Moyes’ 22-year wait for a win at Anfield continues as Everton suffered a 1-0 defeat in the Merseyside derby last night.
David Moyes has now failed to win any of his last 20 games at Anfield following Diogo Jota’s second-half strike.
Everton had chances to gain a result, but Beto’s impressive performance did lack clinicality, as he skewed a one on one onto the post.
Mark Clattenberg believes David Moyes can feel hard done by, as Liverpool’s goal shouldn’t have stood due to an offside.
The Toffees remain in 15th place level on points with West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur, though, their nine-game unbeaten run has now come to an end.

So, it was a frustrating evening for Everton supporters, who were also left baffled by a banner that Anfield unveiled.

Everton fans shocked by Liverpool banner
Everton fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to mock Liverpool’s banner, which read ‘we made this city’.
@EFCDaily_ posted: “We made this city” banner on display in the Kop tonight. Everton Football Club have built all three stadiums in the city.”
“Most bizarre banner of the year.. “We made this city” by Liverpool fans. Weird considering there are 3 stadiums in the city and none were built by them,”@imjustharri1 added.
@Dean_y_ said: “The ev build stadiums, we make history.”
“Quite concerning how they don’t even know their own history,” @seanscully2000 commented.
@NeilDav75440965 said: “We don’t matter though?! EFC – The originals.”
“They can’t think of anything for themselves,” @talk_toffee added.
Liverpool banner in response to Goodison Park tifo
It appears Liverpool fans decided to unveil the banner in response to a tifo which was on show at Goodison Park.
Evidently, the Reds wanted to make a point that whilst Everton may have built many of the landmarks around the city, it was made worldwide famous by them.
Truthfully, it will be a debate had for generations to come and the Toffees will point to their success in the 1980s, too.
The Friedkin Group have lofty ambitions for Everton and are desperate to return the club to its past glories.
The American investors are expected to give Moyes a healthy budget this summer to kickstart their reign.
So, if the Friedkin’s realise their aspirations, the gap between the two clubs will be a lot closer in a few years time.
