With the dreaded day of the Goodison Park finale approaching, fans have been left underwhelmed by a recent announcement.
The Everton faithful will want the perfect send-off for Goodison as the ground, which has stood for 132 years, will be closing its doors.
Duncan Ferguson will be at Goodison’s finale as the Toffees legend might join the rest of the home crowd in not having a dry eye in the house.
It’s an emotional occasion which will need to be planned effectively but this is where the club have already made a mistake.
‘End Of An Era’ plans have been announced by Everton, and their loyal supporters haven’t taken to it well.

Everton fans not happy with Goodison Park finale plans
With the momentous day considered, Everton will be facing already-relegated Southampton, who look set to match Derby County’s worst points total in the Premier League of 11.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 14 | 35 | 8 | 15 | 12 | 36 | 43 | -7 | 39 | |
| 15 | 35 | 10 | 9 | 16 | 42 | 51 | -9 | 39 | |
| 16 | 35 | 11 | 5 | 19 | 63 | 57 | 6 | 38 | |

| 20 | 35 | 2 | 5 | 28 | 25 | 82 | -57 | 11 |
Of course, the Toffees could have a say in this happening, and for fans’ sake, they hope it’s nothing but a win for The Grand Old Lady’s final showing.
However, away from the game at hand, plans surrounding Goodison have been revealed.
The loyal fanbase have shown fury at prices to buy their seat from Goodison, but this next announcement has been claimed to ruin the finale.
Following the final whistle of the encounter with the Saints, ‘Evertonians have been asked to remain in their seats for a special on-pitch celebration that will include guest presenters, appearances from current and former players, live musical performances, and specially-curated big screen content that captures the spirit, memories, and history of the stadium.’
This sounds all well and good, but when fans found out it would only last for one hour, it caused uproar.
@LeeFMc83 started the complaints, saying: “One hour after the game? ONE hour of celebrations that’s it? I thought it would go on for hours with loads planned. Seems a little underwhelming.”
@BeiganEthan was disappointed, saying: “1-hour (Thumbs down emoji).”
“Hmm.. good luck asking everyone to sit in their seats for an hour after the match..,” @whymemate said.
@sophefc2023 raised the point of: “Why only an hour? It should be a whole day.”
@mogs157 said: “An hour? Hahahaa, that’s it?”
@lxreilly1 sees a frustrating future: “Not sure this will go to plan. It will be very difficult to keep Supporters off the Pitch at full time and stop them from taking some souvenirs.”

Goodison isn’t getting the desired finale for Everton fans
It seems as though everything that the club hoped wouldn’t go wrong is going wrong.
To have the ultimate send-off for the iconic stadium to last just an hour is a strange move, especially for what the fans have been expecting.
Although Goodison’s finale plans looked magical, it’s now looking fairly underwhelming, and fans might not settle for this.
Previously, Evertonians have had no problem in invading the pitch at times, and the concern in the Everton hierarchy now is that this problem might crop up again.
The hope is that the last ever game runs smoothly, but the plans in place haven’t been received well.
