Everton fans will have to wait to see the final Merseyside Derby take place at Goodison Park following Saturday’s development.

Sean Dyche’s side have endured a turbulent season so far with the results proving far from consistent for the Toffees.

It seemed as if Everton were beginning to find their feet on Wednesday night with their emphatic victory over Wolves on Merseyside.

However, Dyche’s side were unable to take that confidence into Saturday’s game as the Merseyside Derby was postponed due to Storm Darragh.

Although the news may have disappointed a number of Evertonians, there has been some good news to come out of the postponement.

Everton fans react to Merseyside Derby update after postponement

Three gameweeks could see the Merseyside Derby rescheduled following Saturday mornings postponement.

However, there are some consequences to deal with on Saturday with a lot of resources already put into the game on Saturday.

Everton did announce on Saturday lunch time that the food ordered for the concourses would be donated to a local food bank, so it is not going to waste.

Fans took to social media to praise the club, with @thatshanebua very simply saying: ‘Love my club.’ And they were not alone as @kelltheblue added: ‘Nicely done – we’re great off the pitch time to get it right on it’.

The update from Everton went down extremely well as @edsaefc said: ‘This is brilliant to see. Well done all involved in making this happen’. Sky Sports reporter and Evertonian Alan Myers also responded: ‘Good to hear’.

Everton fans flooded to the comments as @shanepinnington said: ‘Great to hear, love it when some good comes out of a postponement like this’. And @zxspectrum128 also replied: ‘Excellent stuff. Well done’.

There could be some more positives to take as Everton could benefit from the Merseyside Derby postponement with changes going on behind the scenes.

Everton doing good off the field with food bank donation

This really is brilliant to see from the Toffees in the wake of what will be disappointing news for their fans.

Jamie Carragher hailed the good Everton offer the city in preparation for their new stadium being fully constructed.

Premier League football clubs have huge resources at their disposal and often find themselves on the wrong end of the spectrum when it comes to news away from the field.

However, the Toffees really have done themselves – and clearly their fans – proud with this action which will benefit a lot of people within their city.
