Everton are expected to sign a striker this summer.
David Moyes was ‘fixated’ on bringing in a new centre-forward in January, but Everton had to pivot their plans once Jack Grealish suffered a season-ending injury.
The Toffees have been looking at Liam Delap in recent weeks, and Troy Parrott is also believed to be an option.
How do you feel about bringing Richarlison home in the summer? 🇧🇷
He absolutely loves the Blues! 🐦
Romelu Lukaku has been linked with a return to Merseyside and it’s understood he wants to move back to England after falling out with Napoli.
With that said, here’s how Everton fans have reacted to the potential signing on TalkingPoints.
How would you feel about Romelu Lukaku returning to Everton? 🫣
Does he still have it in him? 😬
Everton fans don’t want to sign Romelu Lukaku
It’s fair to say, Everton fans are very much against the potential Lukaku signing as they feel he’s way past his best.
- “No, we need young blood, coming in and coming through. Moyes needs to wake up. Needs to change his tactics. Kids not getting a chance. The recruitment at Everton has been poor over the years.”
- “Not now, too old and doesn’t have the legs. Would have been good a few seasons back!”
- “I think the combo of massive wages and worrying fitness issues make this a no for me.”
- “Not now after all the injuries he’s had, I think a fit Lukaku would still get you goals.”
- “No, no, no, he’d want ridiculous wages for 10/12 goals a season, same as Richarlison, no, no and again no.”
- “No, we need young players.”
As pointed out above, Lukaku has struggled with injuries this season, which has limited his game time to just 40 minutes across the entire Serie A campaign.
The 32-year-old has been plagued by hamstring issues, so if Everton were to re-sign him, it’d be a huge gamble.
According to Capology, Lukaku earns around £170,000-a-week, meaning the Toffees would probably have to make him the best paid player at the club, too.
It just doesn’t seem like a wise move at all in truth, and there are much better options out there like the aforementioned Parrott at AZ Alkmaar.
Championship top scorer Zan Vipotnik is also a good option for Everton.
