Everton have been very quiet this transfer window as expected, but there could yet be movement as the hours tick down.

Sean Dyche‘s Everton side is struggling right now and the impressive form after the initial 10-point deduction looks more and more like a purple patch after every contradicting result.

After a second charge was levelled at the Toffees, there was initial concerns that some big sales could follow in order to attempt to balance the books.

This saw Amadou Onana linked with a move to Arsenal, Chelsea and others while Jarrad Branthwaite has been a target for Manchester United.

But with these not occurring, instead, it appears that Everton could be about to allow one man to leave the club this week in order to get his huge wages off the books.

Everton have told Michael Keane he can leave this week

According to the I, Everton have told Michael Keane that he can leave the club this week ahead of the transfer deadline.

The 31-year-old hasn’t been the first choice this season and hasn’t been too impressive when he’s played which has left him on the chopping block.

It’s no surprise Everton and Dyche want Keane to leave given he’s earning £80k-a-week, which he isn’t justifying, with this wage budget possibly key for future arrivals.

With a contract expiring in 2025, Everton could save themselves a year and half of wages for the player who’s something of a ‘liability‘, according to Trevor Sinclair on talkSPORT in April 2023.

The real challenge however will be finding a suitor with no other side going to pay him that much.

Sean Dyche has let Keane go once already in his career

If Keane is to be let go, it’ll be the second time in his career that he’s been let go by Dyche. The Everton boss was in charge of Burnley when Keane left in a £25m deal arriving at Goodison Park in 2017.

That being said this departure would be for vastly different reasons, with the first time being Keane taking a step up, while this time will be downwards as he’s not of the level anymore.

Getting rid of Keane would be a smart play by Everton, ahead of a summer when some business can be done, his exit would allow for some wage budget to be utilised on players good enough to start.
