Everton have now lost out to West Ham United in the race to appoint Graham Potter as their new manager.
Sean Dyche remains in the dugout at Goodison Park for now with his position at the club coming under considerable scrutiny.
The results have not been good enough at Everton with the Toffees failing to pull away from the relegation battle.

However, The Friedkin Group are offering Dyche an opportunity to turn things around on Merseyside following their takeover last month.
As the new owners continue their internal review of the club, they are monitoring potential options to replace Dyche if they feel the results are not improving.

Everton eyeing Brentford’s Thomas Frank as Sean Dyche successor
With Dyche’s position at the club under question, The Friedkin Group have eyed Potter as a possible replacement.
The 49-year-old has now made the move to West Ham and has left the Friedkins searching their other options.
According to Team Talk, one of the managers who is on the radar of the American owners is Brentford’s Thomas Frank.
Their sources have suggested the Danish manager is highly admired by The Friedkin Group upon their arrival on Merseyside.
But it would be an ambitious move to try and prise Frank away from a Brentford side which have impressed once again this season.

Frank is not the only manager who has emerged on their radar, with Everton also doing their due diligence on Sir Gareth Southgate.
For now, it seems as if Dyche will be given the opportunity to try and put some points on the board at Goodison.
What Pep Guardiola said about Thomas Frank
Frank’s spell in the Premier League has impressed many as Brentford have established themselves as a solid top-flight outfit.
And one manager who has really liked what he has seen from the 51-year-old is Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola.
Speaking in September, Guardiola admitted it is just a matter of time until Frank is managing a bigger club.
“They are an extraordinary team,” he said.
“Every corner is a headache. They are compact. This season, they have a high press. Thomas is one of the best.”
“It is just a question of time [until he joins a bigger club]. I’m good in a few things, one of which is reading when the manager is good. It is going to happen.”
