Everton could be closing in on their first signing under The Friedkin Group with talks ongoing to bolster their squad.

Sean Dyche will be hoping to see some new faces come through the doors at Finch Farm as his Everton side continue to struggle.

Goals has been the biggest issue for the Toffees this season, which is why the Friedkins are keen to sign a new forward this month.

Everton are the second-lowest scorers in the Premier League this term with just 15 goals to their name across their 19 games.

But they could soon receive some further firepower as Everton negotiate the potential signing of Jaden Philogene.

Aston Villa will regrettably sell Jaden Philogene to Everton

This is not the first time which the Toffees have shown an interest as Everton tried to sign Philogene last summer.

However, he instead made his return to Villa Park where he had only left the season prior.

But it has not worked out for the 22-year-old and the Liverpool Echo is reporting Villa are accepting his potential departure.

It is believed Unai Emery’s side regretted initially selling Philogene to Hull City, but are growing aware that the player deserves more regular opportunities than what he is getting at Villa Park.

Philogene has made just two starts in the Premier League this season with minutes few and far between under the Spaniard.

Although the 22-year-old may be seeking more frequent minutes, there may be one potential issue standing in the way of a deal.

Everton may have to work on finances to afford Philogene

With the talks up and running, the biggest issue is believed to be Everton needing Villa to sell at a fee they can afford.

PSR is still a concern for Everton after years of mismanagement from Farhad Moshiri when it comes to the club’s finances.

However, the two clubs do hold a positive relationship having dealt with each other frequently throughout the years.

Everton’s position could be strengthened over the coming days with the likes of Beto receiving interest from Torino this month.

Player sales would only improve Everton’s stance as it will bolster their spending power under the new owners who are already eyeing January additions.
