Everton are heading into the January transfer window knowing there are areas of the squad that need improving.
The Toffees have a big opportunity to take a big step forward this season on the back of The Friedkin Group’s first summer in charge.
David Moyes has seen a number of new players come through the doors on Merseyside in what proved to be a busy summer.
More is going to be needed at Everton, though, with it made very clear back in August that the Blues would not scratch every itch in just one window.
Everton News columnist Alan Myers is keen to see Everton sign a new midfielder in January having lost Idrissa Gana Gueye to the Africa Cup of Nations.
It’s been claimed that Kobbie Maino is of interest to Everton and a fresh update has been shared on his future at Manchester United.

When Kobbie Mainoo could leave Man United with Everton interested
Earlier in the week, Troy Deeney named Everton as a good spot for Mainoo to potentially move to in January.
However, there is plenty of interest being drummed up, with the midfielder desperate for more regular playing time.
According to The Athletic, it is expected that Mainoo’s future will not be decided on until after the conclusion of the Africa Cup of Nations.
You can only pick one in January, who are you taking? 🤔
Ironically, that is when Everton’s options will be improved through the return of Idrissa Gana Gueye.
Despite the interest from inside the Premier League, it is claimed that Napoli are showing a lot of interest in Mainoo, with sporting director Giovanni Manna set to lead any talks.
Roy Keane has warned Everton over Mainoo after what he has seen from the youngster in his early career at Old Trafford.
This is a player who will divide the opinions of Everton fans, but he could certainly provide any club in January with a player hungry to prove Ruben Amorim wrong.
Everton may not guarantee Mainoo minutes
Although Everton have seen their options depleted over recent weeks in midfield, Mainoo may not prove the answer.
Moyes has been so impressed with James Garner this season as the Blues look to secure him down to a new deal on Merseyside.
Pundits are divided on him, but what are your thoughts on Everton-linked Kobbie Mainoo? 🤨
Of course, Gueye is currently playing at AFCON and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is sidelined through a hamstring injury.
However, Tim Iroegbunam wants to secure the other midfield spot whilst Gueye is away playing for Senegal.
Although Mainoo could improve the competition for places, Gueye’s return next month from AFCON could well mean that the Man United midfielder would struggle for minutes at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
