The latest Everton injury news ahead of the Toffees hosting Newcastle United as Sean Dyche faces four players absent, including Amadou Onana and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Newcastle will descend on Goodison Park on Thursday night as the two clubs play their 15th game of the season. A win will also lift Everton out of the relegation zone after Dyche’s team beat Nottingham Forest on Saturday. The Toon may jump up to fifth place with three points.
A sole goal from Dwight McNeil secured Everton their win at the City Ground to now sit two points from safety. It was also the Toffees’ fifth win so far this season. But the Blues are still working to regain their 10 points the Premier League deducted after breaching its FFP rules.

Everton’s injury list ahead of hosting Newcastle United
Everton were without a clutch of players for their trip to Nottingham Forest and may remain without some stars against Newcastle due to injury problems, too. Dyche will hope absences do not prevent the Toffees from meeting his aim of improving their record at Goodison Park.
While Dyche has overseen five wins in 14 Premier League matches this season, Everton have won just once at home. The Blues beat AFC Bournemouth 3-0 on Merseyside in October. So, ahead of Newcastle visiting Goodison Park, here is the latest injury situation facing Everton…
Dominic Calvert-Lewin injury latest

Everton will welcome Calvert-Lewin back from his calf injury when Newcastle visit Goodison Park. The 26-year-old resumed full training at Finch Farm ahead of the game with the rest of Dyche’s first-team. His injury stopped the striker from facing Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
Calvert-Lewin had enjoyed a nine-game run of Premier League appearances before their trip to the City Ground. He also scored three goals during that run with efforts against Brentford, Luton Town and West Ham United. The striker has also scored two goals in the Carabao Cup.
Expected return: Newcastle United (December 7)
Amadou Onana injury latest
Dyche confirmed that Calvert-Lewin is in contention to face Newcastle during his pre-match press conference. But the Everton boss also admitted that Onana remains a doubt to return due to his calf injury. The 22-year-old has missed their past two fixtures due to the problem.
“Dom is showing good signs of being right, so he will come back into the thinking,” Dyche told his press conference. “Amadou is only just back on the grass, so it’s touch-and-go with our decision around him.”
Onana had only missed one of Everton’s first 12 games of the Premier League season before sustaining an injury. He sat out the 1-1 draw at home to Brighton & Hove Albion at the start of November due to illness. The Belgian also has a goal and an assist over three EFL Cup ties.
Expected return: Newcastle United (December 7)
Andre Gomes injury latest
Everton midfielder Andre Gomes made his first on-field appearance since pre-season for the Blues’ Under-21s on Monday. He featured as an over-aged player in a PL2 fixture at home to Southampton’s U21s. The 30-year-old has been out of action all season due to injury issues.
Dyche included Gomes on his bench for Everton’s opening-day defeat at home to Fulham in August. But the 29-cap Portugal international is still working his way back into match fitness. He enjoyed 62 minutes against the Saints’ development team while Everton’s U21s won 5-0.
Expected return: January 2024
Dele Alli injury latest
According to The Times, Everton midfielder Dele Alli is closing in on a return to fitness. He is nearly in a condition to re-join Dyche’s first-team in training at Finch Farm after requiring an operation this summer. Dele suffered a thigh injury whilst on loan with Besiktas last season.
Everton had hoped to have Dele available again by now but he also suffered a setback in his recovery. The 27-year-old aggravated the issue as he neared a return to Dyche’s fold. Now, though, Dele aims to step up his recovery over the next 10 days and join the Everton squad.
Expected return: January 2024
