Everton may well be closing in on a first signing of the winter transfer window.

The news that Jack Grealish will miss the rest of the season due to a broken foot has sparked The Friedkin Group into action, with David Moyes facing the worrying prospect of a glaring hole in his attack should a replacement not be found.

However – according to Fabrizio Romano – progress is being made in the hunt to replace Grealish as Everton now send an official proposal to Chelsea to take Tyrique George on loan.

What should be Everton’s top priority before the deadline on Monday? 😬

Everton now front of the queue to sign Tyrique George as offer sent

The reliable Italian claims that the Toffees have now made an offer for the England U21 international.

Everton hope to take George on loan for the rest of the season, and also have a permanent deal in mind as Romano says an option to buy has been requested too.

The respected journalist took to X (previously known as Twitter) to write: “Everton send official loan with option to buy proposal to Chelsea for Tyrique George. EFC currently leading the race for George as talks are underway with many clubs keen on Chelsea player.”

Sky Sports claimed earlier on Saturday that Sunderland are one of two Premier League clubs pushing to sign the 19-year-old, so it looks to be a two-horse race for the teenager between the Black Cats and the Toffees.

If Chelsea accept the proposal from Everton, Moyes would be welcoming one of the most exciting talents in England to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, one who has been compared to Bukayo Saka – mainly due to looks, but also as a result of his impressive dribbling skills and direct play down the flank.

Everton also yet to give up on Harry Wilson

Harry Wilson is another forward Everton like – and the Welshman has been firmly in the spotlight after entering the final six months of his contract at Fulham.

David Ornstein said it was likely the Wales international runs down his deal and explores his options as a free agent this summer, although Everton are seemingly yet to give up on securing a cut-price deal now.

How good of a signing would this be for Everton? 👀

Not only has an offer been sent for George, but a club insider added on X that Everton have also shown fresh interest in Wilson across the last 48 hours.

The Fulham No.8 typically starts on the right flank where he cuts inside on his stronger left foot – the opposite to how George usually operates – so in our view, both could be signed and fielded in the same side by Moyes.
