Everton are now attempting to push through their first signing of the summer.

David Moyes witnessed his side end the 2025/26 season in miserable fashion, with the Everton hierarchy keen to waste little time in the transfer window.

Hayden Hackney is on Everton’s radar this summer and is a player who is in high-demand across the Premier League.

If you were Angus Kinnear who would you be going all out for this summer? 💰

Given the competition for his signature, those at Finch Farm are now hard at work to do all they can to make Hackney an Everton player.

Everton working on deal for Hayden Hackney

Manchester United also hold an interest in Hackney, with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur also providing competition for his services.

In an attempt to get ahead of the curve, The Athletic are reporting that Everton currently lead the race to sign the Middlesbrough midfielder.

As things stand, the 23-year-old midfielder has chosen Everton as the club he would like to join this summer.

Should Everton be making a summer move for Hayden Hackney at a reported £30m?

Perhaps he'd be a good long-term successor to Idrissa Gana Gueye… 🤔

Although club-to-club negotiations are yet to take place, once Hackney has made his decision there will be no hesitation in getting a deal finalised.

Frank Lampard has been keen to sign Hackney following Coventry City’s return to the Premier League.

However, it is currently the Blues who are leading the race, with Angus Kinnear and his recruitment team seemingly working hard behind the scenes.

The manner in which Everton ended the campaign meant a big summer was needed on Merseyside in the transfer window.

Some faith needed to be restored in the club after they went their final seven games without victory and blew their hopes of European qualification.

Hackney won the Championship Player of the Season award for the 2025/26 campaign, and would prove a strong start to the summer market.
