Everton have already begun to scour the market for reinforcements.
The Toffees sense an opportunity to sign Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough after the England U21 international entered the final 12 months of his contract – and are expected to bid £20m soon amid competition from Crystal Palace.
David Moyes also wants at least one new attacker. The Daily Mail say Harry Wilson is a target, and even claim that Everton have already “pitched” to the Welshman as he prepares to leave Fulham on a free transfer.
How would you feel about Hayden Hackney becoming Everton’s first signing? 🤩
Everton have made a pitch to Harry Wilson
The Wales international was named Player of the Season at Fulham for the 2025/26 campaign due to his consistently outstanding performances, netting 11 goals and providing eight assists in 38 appearances across all competitions.
However, as Marco Silva departs while Raul Jimenez also leaves to step down into the Championship with Wolves, Wilson is yet to sign a new contract at Craven Cottage and looks likely to move on.
The Daily Mail say “opportunity may knock” for Everton when it comes to signing the former Liverpool man, although there is competition from Aston Villa – who can offer the forward UEFA Champions League football next season.
It would be some signing for Everton if the Toffees pull this deal off, especially on a free transfer.
Moyes seems to want a particular style of attacker – one who lines up on the right but cuts inside on their left foot – with Everton also monitoring Jarrod Bowen after West Ham were relegated.
The Toffees already have a forward who operates like this in Tyler Dibling – but Moyes doesn’t seem to rate the £40m man, having given him just four starts in the Premier League last season.
How can Tyler Dibling actually turn things around at Everton? 🤷♂️
It's going to need some turnaround from the youngster 😫
In that respect, should Wilson or Bowen end up moving to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, Everton would be wise to find Dibling a loan – or else the Toffees risk wasting a player of huge potential.
