David Moyes and Everton could now sign a player on their radar, and it’s all thanks to John Heitinga.

The Toffees’ ventures this summer can soon get started with the window almost open this June.

Moyes and co have big plans ahead and will be hoping to land some exciting talent to build on the momentum of last campaign.

Despite their new project looking enticing though, Gustavo Hamer might favour Leeds United over Everton in what could be a blow to Moyes.

But now Moyes has no excuse to land one player after what’s just been confirmed about former Everton defender Heitinga.

Former Everton player John Heitinga has a major announcement

Many fans might not have the best opinion of Heitinga now, after he joined Liverpool as a coach in 2024 under Arne Slot.

To see a player who was admired at Goodison Park and then join the red side of Merseyside certainly hurt as an Everton fan.

The Dutchman’s move was certainly controversial, and Heitinga got a frosty reception from Evertonians when he visited in December.

However, the former Toffees centre-back seems to be moving on from his tenure with Liverpool, as Heitinga was linked with becoming Ajax manager.

Well, that has come true, and Heitinga has taken charge of the Dutch giants, and he can make up for his move to Liverpool with an exciting transfer.

Heitinga can help Everton land £34m Ajax star after bid proposed

With Heitinga taking on his first managerial role, he may actually get the backing of Everton’s support after ditching Liverpool.

He will certainly have to earn back their trust, but he can do this by actually benefiting from Moyes’ plans.

As Heitinga steps into this role, he will take charge of an exciting squad, a squad that includes Everton target Brian Brobbey.

Everton are preparing a £34m bid for Brobbey as the striker could be destined to leave Ajax this summer, and Heitinga might be able to endorse the move for Everton after his experience there.

The striker who takes a liking to Romelu Lukaku would make for a fine piece of business, as the 23-year-old comes with pace and power, with a keen eye in front of goal as well.

Games played30
Goals18
Shots on target per 901.56
Dribble success %56%
Aerial duels won %62.5%

Although this season hasn’t been too kind to him with just four goals, as seen above from last season, he has the ability to find the net consistently.

Heitinga’s arrival might mean that if Brobbey does want to leave, he can convince the Dutchman to sign for the Toffees as opposed to Tottenham, who are also interested.

It’s a chance for Heitinga to thrive, but it’s also an opportunity for him to pay Everton back for his controversial decision.
