Everton nearly signed Antoine Semenyo in 2022

According to the Daily Mail, Everton were interested in signing Antoine Semenyo back in 2022 when he was playing at Bristol City.

At the time, Semenyo was making a name for himself in the Championship with eight goals and 12 assists in 31 games.

How impressed have you been with the Friedkin Group since joining in 2024?

Bristol were holding out for a fee of just £15 million, and Everton were in a three-horse race for his signature alongside Bournemouth and Crystal Palace.

In January 2023, it was Bournemouth who won the race for Semenyo, paying just £10.5 million for his transfer.

Antoine Semenyo now worth £65m in 2026

This season, Semenyo has scored eight goals in the Premier League, putting him third in the top scoring charts behind only Erling Haaland and Igor Thiago.

That is only 10 fewer goals than Everton have scored as a club in the Premier League in 2025/26.

It has been widely reported that Semenyo has a £65 million release clause active in the upcoming January window, which has attracted interest from Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United.

Everton missed out on a world-class talent by not acting on their interest in 2022, and it seems they have also missed out on his huge increase in value.
