Everton target Zuriko Davitashvili plays just like Marcus Rashford
It has just come to light that Everton are exploring a deal to sign Zuriko Davitashvili from French second division side Saint-Etienne.
What are your thoughts on Everton shopping in the French second division? 😬
It’s understood that Davitashvili would be open to leaving this month after netting nine goals in 14 starts this season.
Interestingly, according to FBref data, the Georgian wide player has a very similar play style to former Manchester United and now Barcelona star Marcus Rashford.
Davitashvili is a very powerful and dynamic winger who loves to cut in onto his favoured right foot and shoot.
The 24-year-old ranks in the top 16 per cent for progressive passes received per 90 minutes compared to his positional peers across Europe, evincing his willingness to stretch defences with darting runs.
Everton clearly want to sign a new winger
As well as Davitashvili, the Toffees also looked at signing Brennan Johnson before he joined Crystal Palace.
Moyes clearly feels his current wide options aren’t strong enough, with Jack Grealish having next to no competition on the left flank.
Iliman Ndiaye is being pushed by Tyler Dibling on the opposite side, although the £40m summer signing hasn’t impressed so far.
Everton do have Justin Clarke in the academy, who is a very exciting teenage winger that can operate on either flank.
Would you like to see Justin Clarke given opportunities in the first-team?
Perhaps Clarke will be promoted to the first team if Moyes doesn’t manage to bring Davitashvili to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
