Everton are back on the road again against struggling Southampton.

The Toffees went five games unbeaten after Beto’s last-gasp equaliser rescued a point against Fulham last weekend.

Their opponents are yet to win a league game this season and have just one point from their opening 10 games.

Sean Dyche knows that three points will pull Everton even further away from the relegation zone and with favourable fixtures coming up, a win could go a long way.

Everton team news

Four players will be out of contention for the trip to St Mary’s Stadium this weekend.

Armando Broja, Youssef Chermiti, and Tim Iroegbunam are all definite absentees whilst Dyche confirmed in his Thursday press conference that James Garner will be out for weeks, despite the midfielder’s latest social media post.

Dwight McNeil is a doubt but there is hope that he will be ready for the weekend after he was substituted with a knock last weekend.

Nathan Patterson was named on bench against Fulham but still isn’t match fit enough to start.

Jarrad Branthwaite is also available for selection and could be in from the start on the south coast.

Everton predicted XI to face Southampton

The back four will be largely be the same apart from one alteration that will see Branthwaite replace Michael Keane.

He will be joined alongside Jordan Pickford, Ashley Young, James Tarkowski, and Vitaliy Mykolenko in a back four that was familiar to last season.

Jack Harrison, Abdoulaye Doucoure, and Idrissa Gueye will all be in from the start again but due to the McNeil doubt, Jesper Lindstrom will now come into the starting XI.

Iliman Ndiaye will slot in McNeil’s position just behind the striker, which is something Everton fans have been calling for. Meanwhile, Dominic Calvert-Lewin will lead the line once again.
