Everton and Nottingham Forest are both targeting Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos.

Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra has reported that the forward will become a free agent next month and the two Premier League clubs are among those interested.

Morelos has become a hero at Rangers during his six-year stint in Glasgow, netting over 150 goals and helping them win their first Scottish Premiership title in ten years.

However, the 26-year-old had fallen out of favour this season and only managed 15 league starts, although he still claimed an impressive 11 goals.

With the report claiming that Rangers had failed to reach an agreement over a new deal at Ibrox, Morelos will now leave for free this summer.

Everton and Nottingham Forest are joined by Sevilla, Cadiz and Fenerbahce in their pursuit of the Colombian.

Forest may have the hand over the Toffees however, with former Rangers sporting director Ross Wilson currently plying his trade at the City Ground.

Alfredo Morelos is a proven goalscorer worth a punt for Everton

Everton have looked deep within the free agent market in the weeks following a disastrous campaign, with Moussa Dembele also on their radar.

Alfredo Morelos’ goal-scoring record certainly makes a potential free transfer look like a massive coup, reaching double figures in the Scottish Premiership every season since his move from Finland.

While there are always questions raised about players continuing their form over from Scotland into the English top flight, Morelos’s ability in front of goal doesn’t seem like it would falter on Merseyside – and he certainly isn’t short of confidence.

The Toffees only issue would be his short temper, having picked up a whopping eight red cards during his time with Rangers. However, he is certainly worth a punt at such a low risk – especially given he has not even turned 27 yet.
