Everton fans are hoping to see a summer full of exciting deals, but there remains uncertainty over the future of Tyrique George at the moment.

The Toffees finished the 2025/26 season in 13th place, which was highly disappointing no matter which way anyone tries to spin it.

If you were Angus Kinnear who would you be going all out for this summer? 💰

Ultimately, Everton had a golden chance to secure European football, but threw the opportunity away by going seven games without a win at the end of the season.

The club finished just one point better off than the previous season.

One major criticism of David Moyes was his lack of rotation – and many were especially unhappy with how little Tyrique George was used.

Everton could fumble a very exciting deal with Tyrique George

It’s been claimed (Nizaar Kinsella) that Everton are still deciding on what to do with Tyrique George this summer.

George only made 11 appearances while on loan with Everton, and most of these were coming on as a substitute.

Indeed, he only started one Premier League game.

Bizarrely, Moyes turned to Merlin Rohl at right wing for the final four Premier League games.

The manager loves a square peg in a round hole, and that was to George’s detriment as the season petered out. It was also potentially to Everton’s detriment, with the club missing out on Europe.

Rohl actually had a couple of decent games – his showing against Manchester City the highlight.

But him being overlooked for starts across those final four games was potentially quite telling.

And now Everton are in a strange situation with George.

The fact is, he hasn’t seen many minutes. But actually, when he has come on in games, he’s looked very lively and given Everton something different.

He is direct, he’s fast and he’s a threat. Ultimately, Everton don’t really have someone with his attributes.

The likes of Jack Grealish, Iliman Ndiaye and Tyler Dibling are all technicians, while Dwight McNeil also lacks pace and is more of a workhorse. Some of these players may not even be a part of Everton’s squad next season.

The option to buy George is thought to be about £20-25 million, which feels like a lot. Or rather, it’s now been made to feel like a lot, given his lack of starting opportunities.

But Everton should be paying the money, amid claims Xabi Alonso is keen to reintegrate George at Chelsea.

The glimpses he’s shown are enough to take the gamble, with George standing to become one of Everton’s most exciting deals in years.

The 19-year-old is the exact kind of player Everton have been missing, and could be absolutely brilliant with a solid full-back behind him.

Exciting young player signings have been in fairly short supply in recent years at Everton.

In the current squad, a case can probably be made for Jarrad Branthwaite being one of the only ones, although he did not arrive in any big money deal like George would.

Romelu Lukaku was perhaps the last player who really excelled at Everton in terms of being an exciting young new player coming in, and the club are long overdue
