Some Everton fans might be aware of the 15% sell-on clause involving Anthony Gordon.

It was Kevin Thelwell who negotiated the agreement during talks with Newcastle back in January 2023 – before the Magpies ultimately paid £40m to sign the Everton academy graduate.

It entitles Everton to a 15% cut of the profits should Newcastle sell the 25-year-old.

Ben Jacobs now claims that Anthony Gordon has agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich ahead of a move to the Allianz Arena – a move that should land Everton at least £5m.

Does Kevin Thelwell deserve more credit for this? 👏

Anthony Gordon agrees Newcastle United exit in lucrative development for Everton

The respected journalist now states that the England international has agreed a contract with Bayern Munich – and Newcastle are “optimistic” they will receive at least £75m.

That would represent a £35m profit on the £40m invested to sign the forward back in January 2023, and 15% of £35m works out at a £5.25m payment for Everton.

Jacobs claims Newcastle are optimistic about receiving £75m due to the “volume of initial interest” in the former Everton man. Barcelona also want Gordon – while PSG have made an initial approach ahead of a summer where Bradley Barcola might depart the Parc des Princes.

The Friedkin Group will hope for a bidding war to commence. The higher the fee, the more cash will arrive at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Gordon – who Sam Allardyce criticised recently – has enjoyed a strong individual campaign this term despite Newcastle struggling, with the Magpies currently languishing down in 13th place.

The man born in Liverpool has scored 17 goals and provided five assists in 46 appearances across all competitions, with ten of those goals impressively coming in 12 UEFA Champions League outings.

Sunday marks the final home game of the season for Everton! 😳

It was a sour moment when Gordon refused to train and forced his way out of Everton, but some better news is on the way with at least £5.25m set to arrive at the Hill Dickinson Stadium as a result of his impending exit from Newcastle.
