Everton are seeking to strengthen their attacking options, and Gabriel Jesus is reportedly a target for David Moyes.

The Arsenal striker seems set to leave Arsenal this summer, with Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres both ahead of him in the pecking order.

How would you feel about Hayden Hackney becoming Everton’s first signing? 🤩

The Brazilian has been with Arsenal since 2022, joining the Gunners from Manchester City.

Four years later he could now be moving on, and it’s been reported by Gianluigi Longari on Monday that Everton have conducted an ‘exploratory survey’ on the striker.

And if that is indeed the case, then there’s surely something slightly concerning that will have flagged up.

Gabriel Jesus would be an Everton risk due to injury record

Jesus has had a successful time in English football.

The Brazilian previously played for Manchester City, scoring 95 goals and making 45 assists in 236 appearances.

And for Arsenal, he’s scored 32 and made 22 assists in 123 matches.

Overall in the Premier League, his record reads 79 goals and 45 assists in 243 appearances, which is an impressive return.

He is a proven performer in this league, and someone who always works his socks off which is always great.

But the fact of the matter is that Jesus’ injury record is concerning.

In the 2024/25 season he sustained a cruciate ligament injury, which put him out for just short of one year. He returned to action midway through the 2025/26 campaign, and then scored six goals which, granted, was encouraging.

But prior to this ACL injury, Jesus was a frequent visitor to Arsenal and Manchester City’s treatment rooms.

As per Transfermarkt data, in his career so far Jesus has missed a staggering 137 games for club and country. Even taking away the 48 games he missed as a result of that one big ACL injury leaves a huge number.

Unfortunately for him, he has been quite fragile, with his knees and hamstrings accounting for a lot of his injuries.

And the fitness concerns have been more prevalent in recent years. For Arsenal, he has never played over 30 league games in any of his four seasons, and played fewer than 20 in two of those.

So Everton do have to be considered here as they eye Jesus.

Jesus’ quality is not in question and this would be an exciting deal. Undoubtedly, he would be an upgrade on both Beto and Thierno Barry.

But he’d probably be coming in on very high wages if Everton did move for him, and with that you’d want him playing most games.

Ultimately there’s a lot of risk and we saw how Everton had a lot of injuries through the 2025/26 season. Ideally, there will not be a repeat of that in 2026/27.
