A round-up of the latest Everton news as pundit Stan Collymore leads the reactions to the Toffees’ 10-point deduction amid a clause in Youssef Chermiti’s transfer emerging.
Collymore reacts to Everton receiving a 10-point deduction
Collymore feels the Premier League has ‘taken on’ one of the founding fathers of the English game after slapping Everton with a 10-point deduction. The division issued the Blues with an immediate punishment after being found guilty of breaking its profit and sustainability rules.
The Premier League referred Everton to its independent commission in March after the club reported losses of £124.5m. It allows clubs to post losses of up to £105m over three years of accounts. Everton instantly shared their intention to appeal in response to the punishment.

Collymore believes other Premier League clubs will sympathise with Everton if teams escape such a punishment for future FFP breaches. The Premier League charged Manchester City in February with breaking 115 of its rules regarding financial fair play between 2008 and 2018.
Taking to X, Collymore said: “The Premier League have taken on one of the Founding Fathers of English football, Everton. Everton will have a lot of sympathy in the Premier League ‘dressing room’ should other clubs not be treated as Everton have today. Popcorn time.”

Jordan outlines what Everton can expect from any appeal
Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan has outlined what Everton can expect from their likely appeal against the Premier League’s 10-point deduction. The punishment dropped the Toffees down the top-flight standings from 14th place to 19th through 12 games this season.
Everton are only above Burnley at the bottom of the table on goal difference with a score of minus-three over minus-21. Sean Dyche has overseen four wins and two draws in the Blues’ games this season. And Jordan expects Everton’s appeal will lead to a reduced punishment.
Jordan explained on talkSPORT: “I was told about six weeks ago that their expectation was they were going to get [docked] nine points. But I didn’t think they would get that.
“That’s why I changed my argument from a financial situation to a points-based one. I thought they would get three to six, and that may well be the outcome after the appeal.”

Sporting inserted a secret clause in Chermiti’s transfer to Everton

Sporting Lisbon inserted a secret sell-on clause in the transfer of Chermiti to Everton in the summer. That is according to Record, which reports that the Liga Portugal outfit’s published accounts showed the Toffees will owe the Leoes 12.5% of any future transfer fee he makes.
Chermiti joined Everton in August to help ease the Blues’ reliance on Dominic Calvert-Lewin ahead of loaning Neal Maupay out. The 19-year-old moved to Merseyside for an initial fee of €12.5m (£11m), plus €2.5m (£2m) in future add-ons. But Sporting kept an eye on the future.
Along with inserting a sell-on clause for in case Everton sell Chermiti, Sporting also gained a right of first refusal. The Blues must offer the Leoes the chance to buy the striker back if the Goodison outfit accept a bid. It is currently unclear if Sporting would have to match the bid.
