Everton vs Brentford referee confirmed and fans won’t be happy at all

Everton return to Premier League action this weekend against Brentford at Goodison Park.

Sean Dyche’s men picked up a point on the road against West Ham United prior to the international break and were beaten by relegation favourites Southampton the week before.

So evidently this weekend’s clash is a must-win, or else the pressure will continue to intensify on Dyche, who’s been subjected to fan criticism in recent weeks.

Everton fans have urged Dyche to be sacked with some tipping Brentford’s Thomas Frank to replace him, interestingly.

So it’s set to be a vicious atmosphere at Goodison and the referee who has just been confirmed may only amp up supporters even more.

Chris Kavanagh appointed as referee for Everton vs Brentford

The Premier League have just announced all the referee appointments for this weekend’s games and Chris Kavanagh will be taking charge on Merseyside.

Kavanagh was the man on VAR when Manchester City’s Rodri famously handled the ball in the area against Everton in February 2022.

He opted not to award the penalty and ultimately, City left 1-0 victors, leaving Frank Lampard’s men in a perilous position in the table.

So, on his return to Goodison, he may not get the best reception.

Kavanagh record vs Everton

Everton certainly don’t have the best record with Kavanagh and in fact, the ref has shown three red cards against them throughout his career.

Kavanagh last officiated an Everton game in January earlier this year during a goalless draw against Crystal Palace in the FA Cup.

Interestingly, the game before that was another goalless draw this time against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

So, for Everton’s sake, let’s hope he brings different fortunate this time around.
