Everton have had plenty going on off the field with new stadium talks and a takeover in progress, and it now appears as if they’re set to initiate some contract talks.

The January transfer window is getting closer by the day and rumours are already starting to circulate.

Everton have the likes of Jarrad Branthwaite and Dwight McNeil performing well this season, which no doubt will result in plenty of interest from so-called bigger clubs.

Liverpool have already registered an interest in signing Branthwaite.

Meanwhile, McNeil is yet to be linked with a move away, in fact, he’s more excited about the new stadium that Everton are looking to complete.

One positive is that Everton are looking to secure the future of one of their players.

With a new stadium to look forward to and a potential takeover, the players currently at Everton now have an extra reason to want to stay.

The Bramley-Moore dock has had the seats all installed as they work towards opening in 2025.

Meanwhile, The Friedkin Group are still on course to take over at Everton, despite a recent issue.

However, talks involving a new deal for Jarrad Branthwaite appear to be the main focus for Everton.

According to Paul Joyce, Everton want to initiate contract talks with Branthwaite as a reward for his performances.

Will Jarrad Branthwaite stay in January?

Making a move to get Jarrad Branthwaite, who has been hailed as ‘outstanding’, to sign a new deal is a smart one by Everton.

Everton provided Branthwaite with the opportunity to play Premier League football and were patient with his development at PSV Eindhoven.

Of course, there’s no denying that he deserves a move to a club playing Champions League football, but he’s still only 22, so there’s no rush.

Moving to Merseyside rivals Liverpool wouldn’t go down with Everton fans, but at the end of the day the decision will lie with the player.
