Everton could reignite their interest in Wilfried Gnonto ahead of the January transfer window.
That’s according to TEAMtalk, who have reported that the Toffees will face competition for the Italian’s signature.
Wilfried Gnonto was heavily linked with a move to Goodison Park throughout summer, with Everton seeing multiple bids turned down by Leeds United.
The winger looked so close to returning to the Premier League with Everton, but the transfer saga never seemed to end until he eventually remained in Yorkshire past deadline day.
Gnonto has only managed one goal in eight games for the Whites this season, but is still on a number of club’s radars ahead of January.
Everton are reportedly joined by Roma and Lazio keeping tabs on the ‘unusual’ youngster, while Leeds United are still eager to tie him down to a new contract to ward off interest.
The two Italian giants are said to be weighing up a bid in the next few weeks, while Gnonto would be open to a return to Serie A.
However, it is expected that any interested parties would be required to cough up around £25m to lure him away from Elland Road. The price tag is a stumbling block, with Roma said to prefer a move in the summer. Meanwhile, the Toffees’ interest could still depend on whether their takeover is completed in time.

Everton have held interest in Wilfried Gnonto for months now and it quickly became very frustating for fans when they went from being extremely close to signing him, to him not wanting to join the club.
Should Everton still go in for Wilfried Gnonto?
The young Italian is clearly very talented and looked to be an excellent signing for Sean Dyche’s side in the summer.
However, the transfer saga that ensued following Leeds United’s relegation didn’t really paint a very good picture of the teenager. While he is still young, his attitude wasn’t very appealing and could be a reason for Everton to stay away from him.
Bringing in Jack Harrison instead has definitely proven to be a good move, while signing him permanently next year could be more tempting than paying a huge fee for Gnonto mid-season.
