Everton are set for a transformative summer transfer window.

The Toffees kept their powder dry in the January transfer window in order to save funds for the summer.

Everton were restricted in what they could do due to PSR issues but that’s not expected to be an issue once the financial year ends in June.

The Friedkin Group are planning to back David Moyes with a substantial budget in the hope that the first season at the new stadium on Bramley-Moore Dock will be a memorable one.

The American owners are highly ambitious and have set their sights on returning Everton back to their past glories.

Though, they may have to sell one key asset before the end of June just to ensure they don’t breach PSR before the new financial year begins.

So, with that said, if Everton do have to sell Jarrad Branthwaite, they already have a centre-back target lined up.

Everton will try to sign Maxime Esteve if Jarrad Branthwaite leaves

According to Alan Nixon, Everton reluctantly accepts that it is increasingly likely that Jarrad Branthwaite will have to be sold this summer in order to balance the books.

Nixon has mooted Branthwaite with a £60m move to Manchester United, though, he notes that Ruben Amorim’s side will have to monitor their spending, too.

Everton already have a contingency plan for if the England international leaves, as they’re targeting a move for Burnley’s Maxime Esteve, who is widely regarded as one of the best defenders in the Championship.

The Clarets value Esteve at in excess of £30m and it’s understood the Toffees aren’t the only club keeping tabs on his situation.

Esteve is being subjected to widespread interest.

Tottenham also interested in Esteve

As well as Everton, Tottenham Hotspur are also showing serious interest in Esteve’s signature as he continues to impress in the second tier.

In fact, according to Loic Tanzi, Spurs submitted a £20m offer for the Frenchman in Janaury, but Burnley knocked back their approach as they aim to bounce straight back to the Premier League.

The North Londoners signed Kevin Danso instead, however, it remains to be seen if they’ll reignite their interest in the summer.

Either way, Everton will have to beat stiff competition if they’re to sign Esteve when the window opens.
