Everton’s bid to sign Evan Ferguson in January may have just been ruined after development

Everton are on the lookout for reinforcements this month.

The Toffees are winless in their last five games and have scored just one goal, so it’s obvious additions are needed in that top end of the pitch.

Sean Dyche’s pragmatic style has infuriated fans over the last few months and calls to sack him have finally been answered.

The new owners wanted to be patient with the former Burnley boss and were expected to give him funds to spend, but things didn’t pan out.

Though, one of Everton’s rumoured striking targets could be off the table now as an injury strikes.

Everton’s bid to sign Evan Ferguson dealt major blow

Everton are believed to be in the market for a striker this month as Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto continue to falter.

Armando Broja has just returned from a long-term injury and may be set for another spell on the sidelines after being forced off against Peterborough United, so the club are keen to bring in another centre-forward.

That said, it’s thought the The Toffees are keen on signing Evan Ferguson, who has been made available for loan by Brighton and Hove Albion, unless his £60m valuation is met.

However, it’s just emerged that Joao Pedro has suffered an ankle injury and the club will have to await for an MRI to find out the extent of it.

That will of course have a direct impact on whether Ferguson will be allowed to depart this month, leaving Everton’s pursuit of the Irish forward in major doubt.

Everton may pivot to Igor Jesus

If Brighton do end up keeping Ferguson this winter, Everton could turn their attention to signing Botafogo striker Igor Jesus.

Everton have already made contact to sign Jesus, though, they’re facing competition from Ipswich Town, who a ready to spend £30m on his signature.

Dyche is also believed to be keen on bringing in a winger and Jaden Philogene was in talks to join Goodison Park before he opted for The Tractor Boys.

So there’s certainly work to be done.
