Forget Graham Potter as one manager has been mentioned for ‘weeks’ about replacing Sean Dyche at Everton

Many Everton fans have everything crossed that The Friedkin Group will soon choose to part ways with Sean Dyche.

The manager is currently under big pressure, having taken just 17 points from 19 games so far in the Premier League.

Dyche has faced huge criticism from fans for failing to address the lack of an attacking threat up top, and Chris Sutton branding Everton’s 15 goals scored as ‘unbelievable’.

There is a lot of talk at the moment about Dyche’s future.

Asked yesterday at his press conference about the situation, Dyche said The Friedkin Group are supporting him, and want to see the team get wins under him.

But he could well be running out of time. It’s already been claimed Everton have held talks with potential managerial candidates.

Graham Potter has been linked with Everton but looks set for West Ham now, but journalist Alex Crook has suggested one man who could be in the frame to replace Dyche.

David Moyes ‘a potential candidate’ for Everton

Crook has claimed on X this morning that David Moyes could well be someone The Friedkin Group turn to to replace Dyche.

Moyes has been out of work since leaving West Ham United at the end of last season.

Of course, Moyes enjoyed a brilliant spell at Goodison Park from 2002 to 2013, and just recently, there has been some clamour from Everton fans for Moyes to return.

On talkSPORT today, Alan Brazil spoke about Moyes being a good fit, to which Crook replied: “Yeah, I could see that. In fact, it’s been mentioned to me for a few weeks now that David Moyes would be a potential candidate.”

Alan Myers ruled Moyes out as a potential next Everton manager, as the Scot apparently isn’t keen to participate in a relegation battle.

But a lot of Everton fans seem to want him in now, with things looking for unpromising under Dyche.

In theory with Moyes, you would get a little bit more of an attacking threat, without losing too much of the defensive solidity that Dyche has brought in.

Appointing Potter would have potentially been a risk.

But Moyes – who has 697 Premier League wins under his belt – could be a safer pair of hands for the current predicament Everton find themselves in.
