Everton manager Sean Dyche has seen his job come under serious speculation over recent days on Merseyside.

The Friedkin Group have landed at Goodison Park and have been handed the keys just in time for the January transfer market.

But there is more than just potential January signings which the new Everton owners will need to consider with results leaving a lot to be desired.

Dyche has been provided time by the Friedkins who are currently undergoing a club-wide review going on at Goodison.

The Toffees are struggling, they remain just a matter of points above the drop zone with some difficult fixtures to come.

Fortunately, there is a break in Premier League action this week, but a loss in the FA Cup could really stir things up on Merseyside.

Sean Dyche has spoken to the Everton owners

After the loss on the weekend, Dyche publicly criticised Jarrad Branthwaite which marked the second lot of player criticism in a week from the 53-year-old.

The lack of wins being picked up by the Toffees of late have seen Dyche’s position in the dugout come under serious scrutiny.

Speaking on Tuesday in his press conference ahead of Everton’s FA Cup clash, Dyche admitted he has spoken with the Friedkins.

“Yeah [they’ve spoken] just positive they know some of the work we’ve done. They want better outcomes from winning games, of course,” said Dyche.

“I think there’s a reality to the situation. That’s all I know, I think they’ve been very straight and upfront about it.”

Even Bournemouth fans mocked how poor Everton were on Saturday as the Blues failed to even land a single shot on target.

But it seems as if the new Everton owners have Dyche’s back for the time being.

FA Cup defeat could spell the end for Sean Dyche

On Thursday, Everton come up against League One strugglers Peterborough United in the FA Cup third round.

Anything other than a win for the Toffees would surely see a new level of frustration on Merseyside.

Everton fans are already furious with Dyche and the club’s poor form in front of goal as they continue to struggle to find the back of the net.

But failing to progress in the FA Cup could surely be the final straw for the new Everton owners, even if they have handed him their initial backing.
