Sean Dyche has won back some of his critics with the improved results at Everton recently, but he still isn’t on the same level as one former Toffees boss who was actually considered for the England job.

Everton fans have plenty to look forward to over the next year, with the takeover looking like it could be completed around the end of November.

Also, the new stadium is coming along nicely and will be ready to move into in 2025, which is something Dwight McNeil is already excited about.

However, another job that may be required on Merseyside is to find a new manager if results start to go downhill again, with rumours that Dan Friedkin is already eyeing possible replacements.

Interestingly, there’s one former Everton boss who has been in the news recently for his links to the England job.

Former Everton boss was considered for the England job

David Moyes is the first name that springs to mind in terms of links to the England job.

However, it was actually a super successful manager who happened to be wanted by the FA, a long time after leaving Everton to manage elsewhere.

According to the Daily Mail, Carlo Ancelotti was being eyed by the FA to take the England job prior to Thomas Tuchel being appointed.

Pep Guardiola was also another name that the FA wanted, but his current dealings with Manchester City and his contract made it impossible.

Carlo Ancelotti’s time at Everton

Carlo Ancelotti spent 18 months as manager of Everton before agreeing to return to Real Madrid as head coach.

He guided the Blues to respective 12th and 10th-placed finishes, which, when you look at seasons gone by, are incredible finishes.

However, there were different expectations back then.

He’s regarded as one of the best managers in world football due to what he’s done throughout his career, winning countless trophies at Real Madrid and other clubs.
